FULL TIME POSITIONS

 

Purpose of Job:

To insure each Esthetics enrollee advances to the level necessary to attain related licensures and gainful employment.  Responsible for the administration, coordination, supervision, and implementation of the full-time Esthetics program at SouthernTech while maintaining compliance with State of Oklahoma Career and Technical Education requirements, Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology/ Barbering requirements and SouthernTech Board Policy.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

 

  • Essential Functions of the Job:
    • Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
    • Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
    • Assigns appropriate instruction areas and formally evaluates instruction of the course material, in cooperation with the Director.
    • Responsible for reports and student records required by the State Department of Career and Technical Education.  Provide testing and process required paper work for certificates available through the program.
    • Coordinates all program meetings, testing sessions, and student meetings and activities.
    • Selects, coordinates schedule, and monitor sites for on the job training experiences, clinicals, internships, or live work projects to enhance curriculum, if applicable.
    • Establish student dress code and establish a safe environment by ensuring students understand the proper safety procedures in the related trade.
    • Monitor and update inventory and equipment reporting any discrepancies to keep inventory current.
    • Play a leading role in Job Placement for graduates, and determine their employment status.
    • Supervises student counseling, discipline, referrals, progress reports, and handbook rules and regulations.
    • Provide students the opportunity to learn and practice techniques in leadership and job-related skills.
    • Update technical skill levels as necessary to update curriculum and to deliver current, marketable training to students.
    • Maintain accurate attendance records in cooperation with the school registrar and the Oklahoma Board of Cosmetology/Barbering, evaluate student performance, and assign letter grades.
    • Organize and supervise field trips that enhance student’s job awareness and broaden their knowledge of the field of study.
    • Design group learning projects that develop skills in teamwork and problem resolution.
    • Maintain State, National, and industry specific certifications as required by SouthernTech.
    • Instruct and assist students in operating computers utilizing a variety of educational software applications.

 

  • Other: 
    • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities required.
    • Cooperate with the Director to align curriculum.
    • Cooperate with other personnel to ensure a positive learning environment.

  • Education and Experience: 
    • Master Instructor License required.
    • Bachelor’s degree required or willingness to obtain.
    • Must have 3 or more years of experience in field of instruction within the last 5 years.

    • Working knowledge of computerized office programs, Oklahoma School Law, federal and state laws, and the SouthernTech education system.

Work Environment: 

Primarily an office/clinical/lab/shop environment; walking and working with students and staff.  Full-time Program Instructors may work near mechanical equipment on and near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.  Occasionally working around loud noises associated with maintenance machinery, equipment.

 

 

Purpose of Job:

The Registrar is a crucial member of the Student Services team at SouthernTech responsible for coordinating all activities related to student records, registration, attendance, and data management. The Registrar ensures that academic records are maintained in compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

 
Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

 

  • Essential Functions of the Job:

    • Develop and maintain effective communication channels for disseminating information about registration, academic policies, and deadlines.
    • Address student inquiries and resolve registration issues.
    • Register and withdraw students.
    • Verify student badge access and remove access for withdrawn students.
    • Request records and transcripts for new students.
    • Transfer students from other districts and verify residency.
    • Notify appropriate personnel of student enrollment and any updated information.
    • Assist with student orientation.
    • Ensure orderly and efficient entry and exit of students.
    • Support accreditation activities by ensuring data accuracy and consistency in student records.
    • Maintain student files.
    • Verify student grades for transcripts/Plans of Study.
    • Ensure accuracy of student program data for submission to ODCTE.
    • Generate reports and verify credits earned and graduation requirements.
    • Check students in and out, verifying parental contact.
    • Create and disseminate accepted/waitlist letters and rosters.
    • Regularly correspond with sending school attendance offices and document student absences.
    • Email progress reports to sending schools.
    • Type and design general correspondence, memos, charts, tables, and graphs.
    • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders, answering questions or directing calls to the appropriate person.
    • Compile and complete OKSDE Accreditation Report.
    • Maintain proficiency in software platforms including Academix, Canvas, and Monday.com.
    • Ensure data security and integrity across all student information systems.
    • Develop strategies to utilize technology for improving data management and student services.
    • Make all-staff emergency announcements via phone or intercom as needed.
    • Handle confidential and non-routine information.
    • Prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects.

 

  • Other:

    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers, students, and staff.
    • Working knowledge of computerized office programs.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability to use proper grammar in both spoken and written form and construct clear written communication that is understandable and consistent with the rules of English.
