FULL TIME POSITIONS

Purpose of Job:

Responsible for the repair and upkeep of all electrical systems heating and refrigeration units, not assigned to outside contractors.  Maintenance of mechanical systems and participation on remodeling projects as assigned.  Perform repairs and maintenance on all equipment as needed to maintain a safe and efficient campus.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

  • Essential Functions of the Job
    • Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
    • Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
    • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the physical plant.
    • Remodeling projects as assigned.  Including construction of walls and woodwork, installation of doors, floor tiles and laminate.
    • Painting, removal and replacement of ceiling tiles, carpentry and drywall.
    • Repair of unsafe, in-efficient, and/or disabled equipment.
    • Coordinate with SouthernTech staff to up-grade the care of the buildings and improve service to personnel working at the center.
    • Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative
    • Aptitude for organizing tasks, managing time and prioritizing projects
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, heating and refrigeration systems, mechanical systems as assigned.
    • Install new equipment as permitted by state and local law.  Replace switches and receptacles.
    • Work with teachers and staff to up-grade the care of the buildings and improving the service to personnel working at the Center.
    • Accesses and makes all levels of adjustments to computerized control systems, such as for lighting or energy management systems; and troubleshoots control system problems
    • Performs electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance and repair so that Facilities and Operations makes the most efficient and effective use of computerized maintenance management and service request systems; tracks and closes assigned work orders; may monitor work orders assigned to others and assist them in managing work orders.
    • Responds to campus emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational. Assists with tasks required in preparing to open campuses after a closure including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks and start-up operations as assigned.
    • Maintain the physical plant in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition.
    • Sustain 5S shop practices.

    • Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as may be assigned or directed by the Supervisor.

  • Education and Experience:
    • High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
    • Valid Driver’s License with clean record.
    • Update skills and certifications, license as required by the school in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
    • Previous experience with electrical equipment single and 3-phase up to 480 volts
    • Previous experience with refrigeration and heating systems
    • Valid mechanical apprentice/journeyman license preferred
    • OSPMA – Facilities Certificate
    • 3 -5 Years of Facilities Maintenance Experience
    • Oklahoma Boiler Operators License

 

  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret common technical journals, labels, directions, and instructions; including blueprints.
    • A thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures along with a skill set that includes basic proficiencies in some or all of the following: plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical/mechanical systems
    • Ability to make estimates and materialist; remaining within budget.
    • Working knowledge of equipment used in maintenance of the school.
    • Ability to operate machines, hand tools, and power tools.
    • Proficient in framing and stud wall construction
    • Must exhibit a positive and friendly attitude.
    • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
    • Effective communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, crawling in/through low spaces. Tasks include the need for hand finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing/listening, reading and writing, lifting and moving furniture and related equipment, heavy equipment.

    • Must be able to lift, push, and pull pieces of equipment and supplies weighing 50 to 100 lbs. in normal daily operations.
    • Walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods while performing duties.
    • Hearing: (ability to hear equipment running).
    • Vision:  Close and distance vision required.
    • Use hands to operate and repair equipment.
    • Be able to properly and legally operate school vehicles and equipment.

 

Work Environment:

Working classrooms, seminar centers, shop areas, basically all areas on campus.  Works near mechanical equipment on and near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.  Occasionally working around loud noises associated with maintenance machinery, equipment.

 

Purpose of Job:          

Assists SouthernTech staff, students, and customers in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of PC’s and peripherals such as printers and scanners.

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

  • Essential Functions of the Job:
    • Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
    • Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
    • Assist in technical support for SouthernTech computers, video conferencing equipment, projectors, a/v equipment, and related peripherals such as monitors, cameras, scanners, printers, accessories, etc.
    • Assist in maintenance of systems, upgrades and repairs.
    • Assist in maintaining working inventory of campus wide computer hardware.
    • Assist with the administration, maintenance, and/or repair of network equipment, wifi access points, software, hardware, software upgrades for SouthernTech campus and extension centers.
    • Assist with maintenance to Campus Security Cameras, indoor and outdoor
    • Assist with purchasing and existing equipment repair or replacement through suppliers or contractors

 

  • Secondary Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
    • Provide technical information to other specialists.
    • Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management.

    • Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) preferred.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Purpose of Job:   

To assist the Marketing Coordinator with the development and implementation of a marketing and communications plan for SouthernTech that connects the purposes and philosophies of the technology center to the community-at-large and to potential clients, employees, students, and volunteers by making effective use of a variety of communication strategies all while ensuring brand integrity.  To use innovation, imagination & originality to develop, design and create all marketing and promotional materials for SouthernTech.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities

          

  • Essential Functions of the Job:
    • Supports and promotes the Southern Tech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
    • Supports and assists in the development and execution of the Southern Tech strategic plan.
    • Communicate effectively with Southern Tech customers/students/staff and answer questions or directs calls and social media inquiries to the appropriate person or responds independently in a timely manner.
    • Handle confidential and non-routine information.
    • Develop, design, produce and distribute all advertisements and promotional materials.  Design, create and maintain digital advertisements and print publications to meet operational and marketing objectives on various media platforms.   Examples of platforms may include print brochures, e-newsletters, direct mail, event posters, forms, letters, digital signage, web design, social media, e-mail marketing, paid media, and more.
    • Meet with team to design campaigns and timelines.
    • Uphold brand integrity in selection of colors, images, text style, and layout, incorporating changes recommended by supervisor into the final design. Utilize opportunities to communicate necessity of guidelines campus-wide.
    • Monitor campaign success and recommend strategic changes for optimal audience engagement across social media platforms, website ads, etc.
    • Review designs for errors prior to printing or publishing.
    • Print jobs as needed or provide finished copy to print vendors as determined by job.
    • Prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects.
    • Assist supervisor with projects and maintain positive relationship with marketing and/or communication vendors.  Projects may include, but are not limited to press releases, photographic and video images, school-wide events as well as community events.
    • Keeps well organized, shared calendar of events and campaigns to meet and predict internal and external deadlines.
    • Keeps inventories of publication and promotional asset materials.
    • Responsible for programming & updating SouthernTech outdoor digital displays, internal monitors and social media accounts.
    • Order, organize and maintain inventory of promotional products.
    • Meet work order requests in a timely manner and in collaboration with all departments. Communicate and provide feedback when needed.
    • Assist Marketing Coordinator at various school functions as required.
    • Serve as Marketing Representative in the absence of the Marketing Coordinator:
      • Answering all Marketing and Communication calls
      • Respond to any questions in a timely manner
      • Review incoming work orders and prioritize
      • Other tasks that arise.

 

  • Other:
    • Perform other tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Work with IT to update website, phones, and communication plans as related to new or updated messaging tools.

    • Certification in Adobe Creative Suite required.
    • Computer Training – Career Tech Certificate preferred
    • A minimum of three years of experience or education in graphics, social media management or communications.
    • Ability to operate various types of printing or publishing equipment.
    • Photography and videography experience required. 
    • Canva software skills preferred.

Purpose of Job:

Drive gas or diesel bus on routes and field trips as assigned, observing state and city speed limits and safety regulations as well as customer service and safety policies.  Maintain campus grounds and fleet vehicles in a clean and attractive manner.  Monday - Friday, various shifts available.

Education and Experience:  

  1. High School or GED preferred.
  2. Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License (CDL A or B) w/ passenger and school bus endorsement or must obtain within 120 days.
  3. School Bus Certification or must obtain within 120 days.
  4. Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug test.
  5. Previous landscaping & grounds maintenance preferred.
 
 
 

 

PART TIME POSITIONS

Purpose of Job: 

Teach or instruct vocational or occupational subjects at the postsecondary level to students who have graduated or left high school. Subjects to be taught include technical & industrial trades, business skills, health careers, safety, leadership skills, and  life long learning classes. Teaching may take place at the Career Tech, at a satellite facilities  or at a business location.  Availability will be on a part time as needed basis throughout the fiscal year. 

Requirements: 

At least 3 years of experience in the last 5 years in area of instruction and/or specific trade certification, if required.
