Cosmetology

Exciting changes are coming to Oklahoma’s Cosmetology Licensing requirements!

Starting November 1, 2025, the required training hours will decrease from 1,500 to 1,250 hours, reducing both the time and cost needed to complete the program. To ensure our students benefit from this change, SouthernTech will not be enrolling new adult cosmetology students for FY26. Instead, we encourage prospective students to apply for FY27 enrollment, beginning in December 2025. We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming our next class of future beauty professionals! For more information, please contact our admissions office by calling (580) 223-2070 or emailing [email protected]

Description

The Cosmetology program prepares students to become licensed cosmetologists who provide nail, skin, scalp, and hair care to customers to help them enhance their personal appearance. Students receive classroom instruction and hands-on training in hair styling, cutting, and coloring. Included are manicures, pedicures, facials, lash and brow tinting and arching, and scalp treatments along with customer service and shop management. To obtain state licensing, students must complete 1000 hours of instruction and pass the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering written and practical exam.
