Health Science


Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing occupations in health careers today.  A clinical medical assistant is a professional who performs routine clinical tasks in a medical office setting. Responsibilities may include patient triage, assisting medical practitioners during routine clinical exams, collecting and processing diagnostic tests, and medication administration.  Students have the opportunity to take two National Certification exams to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and a Certified Phlebotomist. Instruction is presented through independent study, project based learning and clinical work experience.


Applicants must complete a SouthernTech Application for Admission. Additional information and applications are available at the Southern Tech campus and online at Enrollment for this career major is open to partnering High Schools (juniors/seniors) and Adults.

  • In-district: $2.50 per hour
  • Out-of-District: $5.00 per hour
  • Out-of-State: $7.50 per hour
